Hi. I'm AJ.
I've been in the IT industry for over 20 years; working as a Server Administrator, Desktop Developer, Web Developer and Educator. For the last 3 years I have done the new hire training for programmers at a major global system integrator. We do this training in Java, the most successful and widely known programming language in use today. I also specialize in the Spring Framework, which is the most popular open source application framework for building enterprise class applications on the Java platform.
Every week I get contacted by recruiters looking for people with Java skills, sometimes several per day. These are great paying jobs, yet, there is a shortage of good people in Java development. In my area, these positions paying upwards of $100 per hour are going unfilled because there are not enough good people writing Java.
You didn't learn to walk by talking about walking. And you didn't learn to swim by watching youtube videos of other people swimming. The only way you can learn how to program, is by programming. And what we are trying to do with Learning by Coding is provide people a framework for learning to program in any language by writing real code for real applications.
